Guantanamera CHORDS Easy (beginner guitar lesson)

This video helped me a lot to learn to play the cuban song Guantanamera in a really easy way, so I share with you.

Chords: G - C - D
(no capo)
Basically it's a nice little loop of chords (simplified one chord so you can have an exchange between
three chords)

First we have a G major, we have a C major, the D major, back to the C, back to the G to start from the beginning. It's quite easy!

Strumming pattern:
Played three different variations of the strumming.

Strumming and flow

Let's talk about down and up of the right hand. Now you can either hold a pick (plectrum) or you
can either use your hand like I do. Sometimes I can use only one finger.

You can use your thumb or the whole back of nails of your all of your fingers.

Now the strumming:

We're on the G chord. There are two things we need to do on the G chord to get it started.

  • Strum down
  • miss the up
  • and strum down again

Now we're gonna release our fingers from the left hand and when we go up we're going to strum the open strings.

It sounds a little bit of tune, but when you hammer-on on the next chord it will sound correctly.

So these three strikes:

  • down
  • down
  • release the strings
  • up
  • and straight away you go to the C chord
  • and you're gonna strum down
  • up
  • down

Now from the C chord we are going to go straight away to the D chord (that's going to be a little bit fast change guys because we're not going to have an open chord hit like we did between the G and the C).

The way you jump to the D chord and you're going to go

  • up
  • up

Continuing you're going to release the D chord

Again open strings like we did before and you're going to do the third strum up with an open strings everywhere (no pressing chords).

Again we jump to last to close it up to the C chord and we're going to strum

  • down
  • up
  • down

just like we did before in the C chord.
