Initial Practice Strumming

Single Down Strum Per Chord Change:

Play a single down strum on each chord change throughout the song. This helps in getting used to the chord transitions and where the changes occur in relation to the lyrics.

Main Strumming Pattern

Strumming Pattern in 16th Notes:

The strumming pattern is counted in a 16th note rhythm: 1 E & A, 2 E & A, 3 E & A, 4 E & A.

Simplified to: 1 2 & a, 3 4 & a.

Actual strums: Down Down Down-Up Down Down Down-Up.

Half-Measure Per Chord

The full strumming pattern covers one measure, but each chord only gets half a measure.

Example for verse chords:

        C: Down Down Down-Up
        G: Down Down Down-Up
        A minor: Down Down Down-Up
        F: Down Down Down-Up

Walk-Down Transition

For the quick transitions at the end of verses and choruses (F, E minor, D minor, C), use a single down strum per chord.
